anyhow, who eternally said a trade show was about being!
At this year's PMA show, the Kodak booth is a behemoth and the companionship has used that space to show off a dizzying array of digital cameras, including some good-looking, athletic ones: the superzoom EasyShare Z7590, a 5 MP, $ camera with a 10X optical zoom; the compact Z730, a 5 MP, $ camera with a 4X optical zoom; the EasyShare C340, a 5MP, $ camera with a 3X optical hum; and the vestibule-level compact EasyShare C300, a 3MP, $99 camera with no optical zoom. But both Kodak and many visitors at the compartment still seemed to be buzzing about the EasyShare-One camera, the 4MP, $599 camera that features a 3X optical hum, a tremendous 3-inch LCD, 256MB of internal onboard recognition, and wireless capabilities.
Like many manufacturers, Kodak was again promoting its theory software, which allows consumers to print swimmingly (either through Ofoto online services—presently to be renamed as the EasyShare hall--or through Kodak's printing dock), as well as to share photos via e-mail. However, Kodak seemed to be chasing the Holy Grail of convergence most in the EasyShare-One camera, which in addition to wireless capabilities features the ability to create photo albums and galleries via a stylus interaction with its wide touch screen.
COST AND CONVERGENCE WONDERS
Another surprising leap into the land of Wi-Fi was from a manufacturer that is demanding to expand in the low-end, entry-level market. peace presented a number of entry-level cameras, including incredibly low-priced ones such as the 3MP Concord 3047, at $79, and the 4MP Concord 4042, at just under $100. Even more impressive was unison's demo of a product that is not ready for release but should be out soon. treaty called it a Wi-Fi enabler. Hook up your digital camera (any digital camera) and the enabler will let you convey you images into your e-mail program.
One might find converging trends in Concord's DVx digital video camera, which lets you take MPEG-4 movies clips and JPEGs as well as MP3s and voice recording. But at only 2MP and with just a digital fly, the device seems predetermined to bide a tool.
A much pricier option, but certainly more in the energy of true convergence, JVC's new 3-CCD, 5MP GZ-MC500 Digital Media combines strong digital video and digital stills on a CompactFlash microdrive. The video camera method shoots up to 60 minutes of expensive-mark MPEG-2 video clips in 720 by 480 at per second. Digital JPEGs can be opening at 2560 by 1920 in two compression modes. However, considering the $1,799 price, some consumers power cull to stay on unlike paths of digital stills and digital video.
formula, another manufacturer mounting a massive booth, displayed some wonderful new cameras, including the potential show precious, the very hot, 8MP, CMOS-sensor Digital Rebel XT, which raises the customer level for a digital SLR's megapixel count to eight while dropping the price to a new low: the estimated road price for the zoom lens kit (18-55 mm, f/.6) is $999, while the estimated highway price for the body-only kit is $899. In actuality, this digital SLR beats some of the manufacturers' suggested prices for enthusiast cameras … and that's with a lens! And, as with most new D-SLR correction models, the Rebel XT expands on some of the features construct in the Digital Rebel, including user-selectable metering and autofocus modes and flash exposure satisfaction control.
declaration also introduced a number of other digital cameras: Two PowerShot Digital Elph ultracompacts were announced—the 5MP SD400 (estimated street price $399) and the SD500 (estimated highway price $499). Also announced were the PowerShot A510 and the 4MP PowerShot A520, at $199 and $299 respectively. criterion made a nod in the convergence inclination by putting impression processing and manipulation capabilities inside some of its newest cameras.
Take, for exemplar, the new Digital Elphs. Each camera has a My Color function, which allows viewers to set the camera to employment creatively with color. For exemplar, you can enhance positive colors, making the grass in a scene greener or the sky in a beach arena bluer. With the Color Accent mode of the My Color feature, you select one false object, such as a red rose, and the processing turns the rest of the photograph into a black-and-white statue. All of this is spent in camera.
In order to take luck of such in-camera software functions, many manufacturers, among them tenet, Hewlett-Packard, Panasonic, and Sony, encompass increased the enormity of their LCDs while also making them sharper and clearer. One noteworthy result of this is that camera makers can put more illumination in their menus, which could be a help or a hindrance for the consumer, depending on how skillfully this information is presented. HP, which announced several new models at the show, including the HP Photosmart R717 camera (with 3X optical zoom), has done an admirable job of adding image news to its digital cameras. What this means is that there is a simple, practicable rehearsal for each scene system. There are moreover fresh invaluable features, including ten top tips that let the photographer get the most out of the camera.
